Alison’s Story

Es dauerte nicht lange, da klopfte es.

“No, please, I want to be by myself now. I don’t feel well.” Helena vermutete, dass es Mr Delaware war, der sie zu einem Ausflug einladen wollte.

Es klopfte erneut.

“Please, I’d like to be alone for now”, wiederholte sie so freundlich, wie sie nur konnte.

“It’s me, Alison. Can I talk to you, please?”

Helena richtete sich überrascht im Bett auf. Alison?

“Okay, come in.”

Alison, fast ungeschminkt, schlüpfte ins Zimmer und schloss die Tür hinter sich. “I want to say sorry for the way I behaved the last few days. I’ve been a →bitch, I know, but I didn’t really mean to be nasty. I was just so …” Sie ließ sich auf den einzigen Stuhl in Helenas Zimmer fallen und begann zu weinen.

“It’s okay, Alison”, versuchte Helena sie zu trösten, aber Alison schluchzte weiter.

“It has nothing to do with you, really, you must believe me!”

“I believe you, it’s okay”, sagte Helena und suchte in ihrem Rucksack nach Taschentüchern.

“I’m sorry”, entschuldigte sich Alison wieder.

“Forget it”, bot Helena an und wartete, was weiter geschehen würde.

Alison sah sie an. “→Are you homesick?”

Helena dachte nach. “I’m not sure. Maybe a bit. I miss my parents and my friends, because there’s nobody here I can really talk to.”

Wieder schauten sie sich an. Alisons Schminke war verschmiert. Das sah irgendwie lustig aus und Helena musste grinsen. Vielleicht auch aus Unsicherheit.

Alison grinste zurück und atmete tief durch. “Do you want to hear my story?”, fragte sie.

Helenas Herz klopfte auf einmal. Würde Alison sie tatsächlich einweihen? Sie nickte.

“Okay, I’ll tell you everything, but promise not to talk to anyone about it, especially not my brother.”

“Never! He won’t hear anything about it from me. Anyway, I think he→’s pissed off with me at the moment. I just →soaked him with his →water pistol.”

“You did what?” Alison brach in Gelächter aus und konnte gar nicht mehr aufhören. Helena fiel mit ein und beide lachten, bis sie Seitenstechen bekamen. “Well, I guess he →deserved it”, sagte Alison schließlich. “He can be nice sometimes, too, though. All right, here’s what we’ll do: I’ll get us some tea and biscuits and then we’ll talk. How does that sound?”

“Great!” Helena strahlte.

“I was →madly in love with Pete”, begann Alison zehn Minuten später, während Helena am Tee nippte und die leckeren Kekse probierte. “Pete’s a punk. He’s eighteen and he can do →whatever he wants, his parents don’t care anymore. I loved him and I loved his way of life. And I had a lot of →hassle with my parents. I wanted to be with him all the time, but my Dad came and picked me up whenever I was a little late. I →felt so ashamed! I hated my parents for that! Can you understand me?”

Helena nickte. “Sure, it’s awful to be controlled like that when everyone else can do what they like.” Sie kannte dieses Gefühl gut.

“That was exactly what happened. The punks didn’t care about society and being polite and things like that. They just did what they wanted.
